Muscles and Woman Over 40
June 9th, 2010
Trainers walking the talk and raising awareness on the benefits and the beauty of muscle on women over 40.
My personal workout focus in the gym over the past 30 years has been mostly cardio driven with a light weight workout on the side, if I felt I had the time. I’ve run 3 marathons and numerous 1/2 marathons. Being a fitness enthusiast, gym owner, personal trainer and group fitness leader, I know and respect the benefits of, as my Personal Trainer Ryan would say, putting some meat on those bones but, never made it my priority. I am 50 years old now and wish that I had followed my own advise by “Walking the Talk”, which is exactly what I intend to do, with the help of my Personal Trainer, Ryan Sinclair and nutritionist Dr. Tracey Teasdale, over the next few months. I plan to semi retire my running shoes and hit the weights in hopes to gain some long overdue, beautiful, strong, lean, shapely muscles. Follow Ryan and I as we both, “Walk the Talk” by “putting some muscle on our bones”.
Here are 10 benefits of Strength Training
1. Increases your metabolic rate
2. Increases and restores bone density
3. Increases lean muscle mass
4. Injury prevention
5. Improves balance
6. Decrease risk of coronary disease
7. Aids in rehabilitation and recovery
8. Enhanced performance in sports, exercise and life in general
9. Aging gracefully
10. Feeling and looking better
Tuesday June 1st. Start Date of my muscle building journey with Ryan Sinclair
From Ryan Sinclair, Certified Personal Trainer;
In this phase 1 of our body sculpting program, we focus mainly on compound exercises to hit more muscles, build all the major muscles and burn calories. This phase focuses on building muscle and a solid foundation in which to build on for our future workouts.
Nutrition
Dr. Tracey Teasdale, Registered Holistic Nutritionist, suggests that you increase your healthy protein intake. Protein is found in not only in meat but, in beans, lentils, nuts and seeds.
